Welcome to my song blog!  I’ve set quite a challenge out for myself.  The plan is to post a new original song every two weeks for the next two years (starting in January 2011) – that’s 48 songs!  Along with the new song post, I will provide a brief summary of the song’s background story.  The recordings will be decidedly minimalist – a guitar, a voice or two…and that’s about it.  Many will be recorded live.

Why should you follow this song blog?  Well, most blogs have daily postings and are cluttered with editorial ramblings or a summary/pictures from the latest family outing (all of which are fine…I have kids too and I love to show their pictures to anyone who has a pulse).  But this blog is different.  There will only be two postings per month.  Also, there is an end in sight.  I will post my last song on December 31, 2012.  So, follow the blog and enjoy the ride.  I would love to hear your comments along the way!

~What a project! You offer something totally unique through your blog, your posts, and most of all the songs you write. Seeing the world through your descriptive writing, and hearing it through your intricate strumming, is a rush that leaves us more relaxed afterwards; It’s a high that leaves us with more ‘groundedness’ and clarity. The vision you’ve set for your blog is intriguing… especially with the last post scheduled for Dec. 31st, 2012. Bless you, your family and your music: as these three bless us… (Tuth & Love)

    Hey Nathan,

I’ve been listening to your album “Change” since 2003, when my best buddy — your brother-in-law — gave it to me for my 17th birthday.

I listened to the whole thing again today during my long commute over the foggy bayous of Southeastern Louisiana.

Nate told me about this blog yesterday, so I’m excited about hearing some more of your soul expressions.

My wife and I are looking forward to meeting you and your family at the very special gathering, which will be held this month.

Change is a very beautiful album – other than that one remark about Christmas in 1988, the album is timeless.
